A unique layout to try and get the best of both worlds

vnddirs
For R/O directories
Or, for R/W directories on a system where R/O usage is not desired
Combined into vnd image which get mounted as partitions over ramdisk

tardirs
For heavily trafficked directories within an R/O system
Starts by mounting mfs partitions over ramdisk directories
Then, extracts contents from /flash/file.tar on boot
Can be written on shutdown as mediated by /etc/rc.flashrd.shutdown

Defaults
vnddirs: root etc bin usr sbin home
tardirs: var

Configurable in any direction
